STEM/LIFE CELL

STEM / LIFE CELL:

Stem cells are unique cells of the body in that they are unspecialized and have the ability to develop into several different types of cells. The sources of the stem cell can be embryo, fetal, adult, umbilical cord blood and placental.

Both the stem cells and life cells can be extracted, cultured in vitro or cryopreserved for further usage. According to the worldwide research on stem cells, it is believed that stem cells have the potential in therapeutic usage for the treatment of chronic disease. Stem cells/life cells may also be used for screening of the effects of new drugs and toxins before subjecting it to the animal/human test.

 Objectives:

a. To determine the best extraction method, culture and cryopreservation condition in order to maintain the high viability of the cells.

b. To study the characteristics and development of the stem cell that extracted from different sources that may be used as therapies for chronic diseases.

c. To develop a suitable in vitro cell system (eliminate the usage of living organism) for the evaluation of the bioactivities of drugs.

d. To produce hybrid cell that have higher viability rate and faster growth rate for research usage.
